Cafe Coyote (Old Town)

Cafe Coyote (Old Town)

Best news I got all Tuesday- it’s National Tequila Day (July 24th – sorry a little late!). Yes, someone finally made it an official day-I’m still waiting for the government to recognize it so I can get my rightfully earned day off, but until then I will go to a tequila pairing and tasting at Cafe Coyote because I’m a workaholic.

Those of you locals and most likely tourists too, have probably been to Old Town and been a victim of the tortilla ladies taunting you with the freshly warmed goodness that is known as a the flour tortilla, while you are strolling down the street or waiting in line for a table.…

Caffe Calabria for Food or Coffee?

Caffe Calabria for Food or Coffee?

Not sure if you remember our Facebook Poll earlier about defining yourself as a foodie. Most of the people identify themselves as the “Discoverer”, who is always in search of new, local and ethnic food. At SDF, we are always fond of discovering new places and food that we’ve never been to and ate before. That’s why when we go to lunch, we like to mix up our options with old places and new places.

So the other day, we went to a new place, where not one of us had been before.…

Slater’s 50/50 (Point Loma) and BACON

Slater’s 50/50 (Point Loma) and BACON

So after having a lifetime of bacon in one week, I decided to make a BACON (since it should always be all caps) post. First off, let’s talk about the BACON gem known as Slater’s 50/50.

This BACON week all started after my roommates and I (stupidly) watched a program called “BACON Paradise” on Travel Channel that highlights all the places around the county to die from BACON over dose. Surprisingly most places were in California including Slater’s 50/50 who originated in Anaheim and moved down to Point Loma to bestow BACON heavenliness all around San Diego.…

Deli SA (South African) in Kearny Mesa, San Diego

Deli SA (South African) in Kearny Mesa, San Diego

Deli SA (South African) in Kearny Mesa, San Diego is a hidden gem.  Tucked away in an unassuming business park, lies a repository of good eats and delicious meat pies.  They’ve been here for over 5 years, but I’ve only discovered them now.  You should too.

Deli SA is run by owner, Graham Perkett.  Over the past few years he has been growing slowly and steadily by word of mouth.  Just recently he was featured in San Diego City Beat, and was recently on the Cooking Channel!  Anyhow, I decided to drop by and see what all the fuss was about.…
