Yokohama Yakitori Koubou (Convoy)

Yokohama Yakitori Koubou (Convoy)

Yokohama Yakitori Koubou has been one of my favorite Japanese places to chill out with friends.

Sorry that I forgot to take pictures of the restaurant, as I was too hungry and excited to have dinner and catch up with my friends. The restaurant is actually not very spacious, but it was still comfy. There are bar seating where you can sit and watch your yakitori (skewers) being prepared, or there is table seating.  They separate every two tables with screens that create privacy and intimacy.  That creates a comfy space for people to eat and chat.…

BGR Tasting (Point Loma)

BGR Tasting (Point Loma)

When Brian from Sage Communications contacted us asking if we’d like to attend a media tasting at BGR, I was a little hesitant for a couple reasons.  There is a ton of competition out there for the “best burger” so what could BGR have to offer that other places do not?  I wasn’t sure yet but Anh and I decided to give it a go anyways.  It’s located in a small shopping center near Sports Arena Blvd. and has been there since late last year.  BGR is a chain from the East coast and they’re trying to expand out here to “steak” claim to the title of “one of the best burgers” according to founder Mark Bucher.…

Taste Of Downtown (Downtown)

Taste Of Downtown (Downtown)

I had never done a “Taste of” event. I think the best way to describe such an event is as The Amazing Race: Restaurant Edition. You are given a vague map you have to decode, a punchcard of sorts that each restaurant has to mark off and a challenge to eat at 60 different places in four hours to get your $30 worth.

For an added element of challenge, some places even try to lure you in by making you sit down and wait for your food sample while taunting the happy hour specials in front of you.…

Taste of North Park

So its been a few weeks now and I wanted to give everyone my impression on Taste of North Park.  If you’ve never been before the concept is simple.  Pay one price and sample many different things from all the participating restaurants or businesses.  Kathleen was able to work with Angela and Alessandra from North Park Main Street to score us exclusive tickets to cover the event.  I actually had never gone to this Taste of event so the opportunity couldn’t be passed up! There were 39 different restaurants and another 15 galleries/boutiques that participated.  …

The Promiscuous Fork (La Jolla)

The Promiscuous Fork (La Jolla)

Hello everyone.  How’s everyone loving this rain!?!  Okay, it’s not that exciting.  But I think I’ve come across something to make the thought of that wet sock go away.  The Promiscuous Fork!  They opened earlier this year in an unassuming strip mall situated next to a liquor store.  But hold your horses, they serve beer and wine so you don’t have to get out of your chair just yet.  Let’s take a look at the menu they served when Anh and I went.

Sorry I couldn’t get a picture of the whole menu.  …

The Upcoming Taste of North Park (North Park)

What’s the best way to get to know one of Forbe’s Hippest Hipster Cities? By eating, drinking and shopping there of course! Taste of North Park is happening this Saturday, October 4th from 11-4 in the heart of North Park. Over 35 restaurants are participating including Sea Rocket, who was featured in “Bizarre Foods,” Urban Solace who is practically famous for their cinnamon rolls (at least in my book) and Heaven Sent Desserts, who are just heavenly (pun intended).  Not to mention 15 local craft breweries, including Coronado Brewing Co.
