So it’s RESTAURANT WEEK! That special time of the year where you get to feel extra fancy when you go out because you have “courses.” I like to use restaurant week like most people, to try places I wouldn’t usually go to and also to go to some of the beloved places for an extra luxe feel.
New restaurant #1 was Kitchen 1540. Located on the beautiful shores of Del Mar in the L’Auberge hotel (yes, it is as fancy as the name suggests). It has been a while since Michael or I had been to Rubios. I heard they brought back the original fish taco a while ago but never got to try it…until now! Hopefully most of you have heard of Rubios or seen them in San Diego. They have about 200 locations and have been serving fish tacos since 1983.
This Mission Valley location is actually quite large and is about as busy as I remember it during the lunch hour. One difference I noticed is that they really do have an even greater emphasis on seafood than I remember from my past visits. …Read more
