I love pickles. Actually, I love almost anything pickled. Kimchi, pickles, carrots, daikon, you name it. QT Pot or Quality Taste Pot has been open since about September and we actually went a few weeks back but only got a chance to put something up until now. I hope to give it another try at some point down the road. They serve small hot pots that are more than enough for Anh and I. We used to go to Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot fairly often, but we switched to E & Drink when it opened because of location, the better price, and their hot pot lunch specials.…Read more
Rita’s Italian Ice is starting to take over San Diego. They opened their first store in SD just last year and now have eight locations up and running. On their website they list seven more coming soon, with others I’m sure to follow shortly after. Time will tell if demand can keep up with their pace.
We went to try the location in Santee to see what everyone was talking about. There was a line, but we got through it pretty quickly.

NO EGGS!! I first heard about Hampton Creek while watching Andrew Zimmern’s show, “Bizarre Foods”. I was quite intrigued by the promise of egg based products without the use of eggs. You see my 2.5 year old daughter has a pretty severe egg allergy, so we constantly have to watch out for egg within foods to prevent any allergic reactions. There are a lot of egg based products out there!

Darren and I first tried Iceskimo this Summer when they opened up as a popup store (inside the Pangea Bakery). They only had a few options back then, but it was certainly memorable as our favorite snow ice in San Diego. (*If you’re from L.A. you probably have had, or heard of Blockheads). Anyhow, Iceskimo finally opened their brick and mortar store on the corner of the Dumpling Inn shopping center Nov. 1st. Parking isn’t the best, but it’s worth the hassle IMHO.
