Dare I say it?  I WILL.  Tonight’s dinner wins for my best meal of 2015 so far.  Saiko Sushi delivered quality on all fronts – excellent ingredients, service, and even the prices are very reasonable for a sushi restaurant of this caliber.

Saiko Sushi is located in Northpark, just off University and West of 30th St.  “Saiko” in Japanese is translated as “best or highest”.  It’s a pretty bold claim, but one that they focus on meticulously every night.  We were invited to check them out as this Northpark location just opened up recently.  …

Daddy’s Hot Dogs has been serving some of the best hot dogs San Diego has ever seen since the end of 2011. The place isn’t huge, nor does it have a lot of decor. But don’t let the simplicity fool you. William is a serious chef and stands by his dogs. In fact, he almost has as much pride in his dogs as he does his kids! We visited him early on when he first opened and try to come back as often as we can to see how he’s doing, and of course to see what he’s been cooking.…

So we finally went to Supernatural Sandwiches back in January. We heard about it from friends, bloggers, and numerous media outlets. Heck, we even saw it at the Convoy Night Market! But at the time I didn’t connect the dots and realize what I was missing.

We would not be denied too much longer. The Nessie (Local Fish of the day, Silky Shinto Glaze, Buttery Toasted Bun, Tasty Shaman Tartar Sauce, Savory Jinx Relish, Fresh Local Greens) seemed like a good choice to start us out. They were serving halibut and it all came on two pieces of brioche bread.…

85°C Bakery Cafe(Clairemont)

DSC_0250Back in the day a trip up to LA or the SGV area wasn’t complete without a visit to 85°C. But over the last year or two, our visits have become less frequent. And nothing really changed up there. They sell the same quality tasty treats. The lines were as long as they ever were. Did we just get over it or would we be more inclined to visit more often if there was one closer to us? They’ve been in town since November of last year and we’ve only been once…
