It has been almost exactly one year since Pizzeria Mozza opened in downtown San Diego. After a short stay, they are closing their doors at the end of the month on November 30th. According to their Facebook page, “the gospel of Mozza pizza did not adequately spread to the people of San Diego.” I wanted to put something up here for people on the fence who have never gone to the restaurant and were thinking of visiting before they closed. I believe a restaurant is only good as the food and service they provide.…Read more
Our favorite French Patisserie, Le Parfait Paris, has finally unveiled it’s newest storefront in the heart of downtown San Diego. It’s been a special project in the works for the past year or so, but I assure you the wait has been well worth it. Darren and I recently went to checkout the new location and definitely were not disappointed. The new location is stunning. With clean lines, colorful delights, and tall windows, the space couldn’t be more inviting. They are also open late on weekends!
We were greeted with some classic delights, as well as some new ones too. …Read more
Chances are you’ve seen or passed by Toast Enoteca & Cucina in downtown San Diego before. It’s right around the corner from Petco Park and across the street from Basic. Have you tried it yet? Fortunately we got to taste what Toast Enoteca & Cucina has to offer, but I can’t help but kick myself for not trying it sooner.
There’s around 400 different wines to sip and indulge on throughout the restaurant. You can load money on wine cards to sample by the ounce, just like Splash and Mosaic in North Park.…Read more
You may have seen our giveaway for Taste of Bankers Hill the other week. Congrats to all our winners and everyone who participated! We got a chance to attend the event ourselves which we’ve never been to before. There were many restaurants we’ve dined at in the past, but some of them we haven’t gotten a chance to try yet. That’s what we love about “Taste of” events. You can get samples from multiple restaurants in one eating session, and hopefully they do a good job representing the restaurant as a whole.…Read more
Darren and I recently joined a San Diego Media dinner hosted by the Kona Kai Resort on Shelter Island. The Kona Kai recently completed a $22 million overhaul of the resort and revamped their flagship restaurant, Vessel. Vessel includes a 360-degree bar with sweeping views of San Diego’s beautiful bay front. The interior has been brushed with a vibrant sea foam green against distressed wood throughout. I found the overall ambiance to be upscale, relaxing, and inviting. Vessel is now headed by Executive Chef Roy Hendrickson. As a native Southern Californian who has traveled and lived abroad in Europe, Chef Roy brings years of diverse experience and inspiration to his food and does his best to share that gift with this patrons.…Read more
