I got a chance to go to the D6 Night Market in Mira Mesa a few weekends ago held at Mira Mesa Community Park. If there is one thing I learned about these events it’s come early if you don’t like to wait in long lines and potentially miss out on some things that may sell out. This particular night market is named after San Diego’s City Council District 6, which includes Clairemont, Kearny Mesa, MCAS Miramar, Mira Mesa, Rancho Peñasquitos-Park Village, and Sorrento Valley.

We were invited to a preview dinner of Peri Peri in Torrey Highlands last Wednesday. The restaurant is set to open tomorrow (Saturday, March 1st). Here’s how it all went down!

The restaurant itself is fairly spacious, with 3,000 square feet of indoor as well as outdoor seating in the patio. Having grown up in South Africa, owner William Sussman is hoping to bring the unique South African flavors to San Diego. According to William, peri peri was created many years ago in the 15th or 16th century when Portuguese explorers were introduced to the African bird’s eye chili from the local indigenous Africans of Mozambique.…

Deli SA (South African) in Kearny Mesa, San Diego is a hidden gem.  Tucked away in an unassuming business park, lies a repository of good eats and delicious meat pies.  They’ve been here for over 5 years, but I’ve only discovered them now.  You should too.

Deli SA is run by owner, Graham Perkett.  Over the past few years he has been growing slowly and steadily by word of mouth.  Just recently he was featured in San Diego City Beat, and was recently on the Cooking Channel!  Anyhow, I decided to drop by and see what all the fuss was about.…
