George’s at the Cove: Ocean Terrace has been one of my favorite spots to take people from out of town looking to splurge on a nicer meal with a killer view. I’m sad to report it has been quite a while since I last visited. I think my absence coincides with the dismay I felt when I found out they added surcharges for restaurant week items years ago. It was one of the first ones, if not the first one I remember ever doing that. But much like my Wendy’s ban of 10+ years, it was time to let it go.…Read more
A little reminder, we are running a McDonald’s giveaway so don’t forget to enter! Onto our review! Need a dash of nostalgia? The Safehouse just might be that place if you are a video game nerd like me. Located in North Park, their focus is on ramen, local beer, and of course the overall fun atmosphere.
You read that right. NINTENDO 64!
I spy a Nintendo 64 in the corner. Depending on how you look at it, we were or weren’t in luck because the Chargers game was on. Michael was trying to avoid watching/hearing what was going on because he was recording it at home.…Read more
A quick shout out to my neighbors, Russ and Berm, who turned me on to Ocean Pacific Grille right when they opened up 4 months ago. They’ve been raving about them ever since. So, I’ve been wanting to try them for some time now, but always had some sort of scheduling conflict.
Luckily for us, Kat from Crave Marketing, invited us to check them out recently. So of course we jumped at the opportunity when it arrived and said, YES!
Ocean Pacific Grille was opened by Managing Partner, Brian Norris, and Chef Partner, Charles Andres. …Read more
Food truck gatherings are nothing new, but the amount of participating food trucks can make all the difference. The Gourmet Food Truck Festival at the Del Mar Racetrack is one of the larger gatherings we’ve been to. They had close to 40 different food trucks to choose from. This particular event took place last month on a sunny and sizzling San Diego Saturday afternoon. In our eyes, the more the better so we can try as much as we can from food trucks all over Southern California without actually driving to each one.…Read more
I was quite happy to hear through the wire that two Lemonade locations were opening in San Diego in 2015. I’ve been a big fan of their restaurants for awhile now, but until now I’ve only been able to frequent them during L.A. trips to visit family. The locations recently opened are in Hillcrest and University Towne Center (UTC). Lemonade is a quick service modern marketplace restaurant that brings seasonal California comfort food in a whimsical open-space cafeteria setting.
This location in the UTC mall is located across the food court on the south eastern side near the valet parking & Sport Chalet.…Read more
Thank goodness is all I have to say. It’s been awhile since I blasted a restaurant, but Teri Cafe was terrible in my opinion. Granted I haven’t been there in years, but I distinctly remember their chicken was always dry and under season. So, I’m happy to report that Teri Cafe is no longer around and has been replaced with Katsu Cafe!
I’m not exactly sure when they opened since I don’t work in the area any longer, but I decided to check it out with Jorgina and the kids one day while we were furniture shopping. …Read more
After my friends and I attended the D6 Night Market a few months ago, I guess we weren’t done eating yet. My strategic stomach space planning didn’t factor in an extra food stop. Here I thought I was the crazed foodie. My fellow food loving peoples wanted to stop by T-Pop Desserts & More for, well…more. They were taking me somewhere I had never been before but had heard a lot about. The pictures looked great from what I saw in other reviews, so in the very least it would make for a good presentation.…Read more
Kyoto Gift & Food is a Japanese Market located just West of the 805 freeway in National City, CA. It took us awhile to find this place because it’s touted more as a market, rather than an eatery. However, I’d say it should be known for both.
Just inside the market there is a small room in the back which houses their sushi production. The market is run by a nice Japanese “mom and pop”. Inside looks like a market you might find on the Island of Maui, with lots of traditional Japanese foods, snacks, and of course sushi.…Read more
