Freshly

Freshly

These food delivery service companies really have been pulling me on a string lately. Yes I have enough time to shop and cook. But the idea of saving time when I need to, coupled with my curiosity has forced me to try yet another meal kit delivery service. I wrote about Blue Apron back in August and had mixed feelings about it. This time Anh turned me to Freshly since she was about to give it a try herself. Each Blue Apron meal (serving) cost $6.50 (with the discount I found online).…

Lemonade – UTC Mall, San Diego

Lemonade – UTC Mall, San Diego

I was quite happy to hear through the wire that two Lemonade locations were opening in San Diego in 2015.  I’ve been a big fan of their restaurants for awhile now, but until now I’ve only been able to frequent them during L.A. trips to visit family.  The locations recently opened are in Hillcrest and University Towne Center (UTC).  Lemonade is a quick service modern marketplace restaurant that brings seasonal California comfort food in a whimsical open-space cafeteria setting.

Daphne’s has been around a long time and it’s one of the only large chains that serves Greek food in San Diego. I don’t make it out to Daphne’s very often but do find it helps mix things up when I’m craving for something fast and a little different. They’ve gone through a few ownership hands(as recently as last year) but seem to be embracing their new “California Greek” name by offering menu items like the Cali-Greek Bowl and the Cali Pita.

We were invited to explore the menu and try these new items as well as their classic pita which is only $5 for a limited time.…

Olympic Cafe

Olympic Cafe

I like me some Greek food. I’ve heard about Olympic Cafe before but just never got around to trying it. Lucky me, it was meant to be. I hadn’t done too much research on the place so I wasn’t sure what to order. But the gyros is usually a good place to start. I don’t know too many places that have great gyros in San Diego so I started there.

These gyros were plentiful and were delectable. I know better to judge a food item solely on price, but for some reason I had my doubts on the $6 gyro sandwich.…
