Deli SA (South African) in Kearny Mesa, San Diego is a hidden gem.  Tucked away in an unassuming business park, lies a repository of good eats and delicious meat pies.  They’ve been here for over 5 years, but I’ve only discovered them now.  You should too.

Deli SA is run by owner, Graham Perkett.  Over the past few years he has been growing slowly and steadily by word of mouth.  Just recently he was featured in San Diego City Beat, and was recently on the Cooking Channel!  Anyhow, I decided to drop by and see what all the fuss was about.…

I’ve been waiting a while for the pop up restaurants to come to San Diego with more frequency.  So when this opportunity came up we couldn’t pass it by!  As the sheet below mentions this was located at California Kebab right by San Diego State.  On these Saturday’s the shop operates as House of Khan and not California Kebab.  There’s only room for one chef in the kitchen at a time!  :)  Also, it’s only here until the end of August so if you want in you better save a spot!

Himalayan Nepalese Restaurant (San Diego) is located in the La Mesa area, tucked away in an unassuming strip mall.

I have to give Darren credit for this delicious find.  We’ve been coming here for a couple years now and they never disappoint.

What is Nepalese cuisine you might ask?  Good question!  I had no idea the first time coming here.  I can best describe it as a fusion of Indian (75%) and other Asian cuisines (25%).  Having said that, this is the only Nepalese restaurant I frequent, so I don’t have much to compare it to.  …
