Happy Friday!! We recently were invited to visit Isabel’s Cantina. It has been four years since our first visit and I’m not quite sure why it has taken so long to visit them again. Last time I was blindfolded and led into the restaurant, only to find a table filled with friends and family there to celebrate my birthday. Surprise! Maybe I compartmentalized that into a whole other part of my brain, away from the “normal” places to go. The outside of the restaurant sticks out like a sore thumb. It sits tucked away from the main stretch of Pacific Beach, sheltered by residential and other businesses. …Read more
The World Cup is almost over, but you can still celebrate with The Better Chip! We received another box of The Better Chip from Kaitlin over at Murphy O’Brien and there’s two new flavors, Chipotle and Beet! If you haven’t heard about them before, we reviewed them in January. You can read about what we sampled here.
We even got a Brazilian shaker in the box! All of their chips are non-GMO and all natural. They are also all gluten free. The Red Pepper or Sweet Onion flavors are no longer listed on their website so they may have stopped producing those.…Read more
Anh and I were in the bbq mood so off we were to the semi new Taegukgi Korean BBQ House next to Zion and M.I.T Express in Kearny Mesa.
The inside is very spacious and even boasts a long bar that spans the length of the restaurant. We happend to come on a Tuesday which would turn out to be the right day because their all you can eat lunch special is $13 on Tuesdays (normally $17.99). They have other specials on certain days so make sure to check on those if you are interested in going.…Read more
If someone told me they wanted to go to Jiggle Jiggle for lunch I’d probably ask if the lunch was for free. But alas, an X-rated experience was not meant to be on this day. Jiggle Jiggle is a Korean restaurant and it opened at the beginning of the year. Michael and I are always excited to try a new place, so off we went into the unknown eagerly awaiting our first Jiggle Jiggle taste.
Naturally I gravitated towards the Korean fries when I saw the signs in the front. But the voices in my head told me not to and instead I opted to order the more traditional bulgogi (beef) and bulgogi (chicken) lunch plate. …Read more
You can immediately tell that Chef John and his wife take pride in their establishment. There are very courteous and checked with each customer to see if they were okay after receiving their order. It appears that they are of Korean descent, but their fish and chips took me back to good memories in the U.K! Crispy, flaky, and full of flavor… mmmmm. It was definitely worth the trek out to Lemon Grove.
As you can see, the piece of fish spans the entire length of the basket. The batter was light (though a touch too oily) and the fish moist and delicious. …Read more
