Happy Friday!! We recently were invited to visit Isabel’s Cantina. It has been four years since our first visit and I’m not quite sure why it has taken so long to visit them again. Last time I was blindfolded and led into the restaurant, only to find a table filled with friends and family there to celebrate my birthday. Surprise! The beginning of next week marks the start of Thailand Week (Sept. 1 to 7, 2014). Darren and I had the good fortune of covering the preview event a couple weeks ago at the Escondido Center for the Arts. Since we both love Thai food, we were in for a special treat! There were over 35+ different restaurants that attended and each had a quality dish to share.
This particular evening was highlighting the “Thai Select” designation as given by the Thailand Ministry of Commerce. Basically, if you’re given this distinction, your restaurant is “legit” in the eyes of the Thai government. …Read more
I’m originally from Los Angeles. When I go back home to get Thai food it tends to be at places in Thai town, like Palms, Ruen Pair, or Jitlada. But there’s a new player in town. Watdongmoonlek has entered the rotation. It isn’t a new restaurant, but it is for me since we just discovered it this year!
One might get excited walking into a place like this. Hopefully the hipster vibe wasn’t just a front for mediocre food. But good food answers all questions in my book.

Last week Fabiana and I got a chance to tour the new San Diego International Airport. Not only did we see the sleek new green building elements, but we also got to sample many of the new food offerings! Our newest member Fabiana has a lot to say about it so I’ll get out of the way and just drop my random commentary (denoted by D) throughout the post.
Who would think that waiting for a plane could be so much fun? And delicious!
