San Diego Poke Co. – Normal Heights

San Diego Poke Co. – Normal Heights

San Diego Poke Co.

Yes!! San Diego Poke Co. has expanded into a new location located in Normal Heights.

We visited their first Mission Valley location back in July of 2016.  They were one of the first poke places to open up shop in San Diego before it became “all the rage”.

Luckily, we were invited back to try out their latest location.

Their layout is clean, simple, and modern.  To me, this points to the freshness of their fish.

Today I brought along my good friend, Russ, who is a fellow foodie and poke lover!…

Veggie Grill – UTC / La Jolla

Veggie Grill

We were invited to check out Veggie Grill up at the UTC mall the other week.  Tee was back with me on this rotation and she had a lot of fantastic input that I’ll share with you on this post.

VG is located just across from Macy’s and a huge construction area where they are expanding the mall by 90+ stores!

It’s awesome to see the UTC mall continuing to get its much-needed upgrade.

Wailua Shave Ice – Ocean Beach

Wailua Shave Ice

Finally!  Wailua Shave Ice is open in Ocean Beach.  🙂

We’ve actually been stalking them a bit since first visiting them in Kauai a few months ago.

You see they specialize in shave ice that’s all natural and made with fresh fruit!

They share a co-op space with OB Beans Coffee Roasters which is kind of cool.

Mekong Cuisine Lao and Thai – Convoy

Mekong Cuisine Lao and Thai – Convoy

My family and I love Thai food!  In fact, we probably eat it once per week on average.

We were pretty bummed a couple of weeks ago to find The Great Thai BBQ in National City had closed.  We knew it was coming, but we’d had a void to fill.

Trying New Thai

Mekong Cuisine Lao and Thai

Thankfully, a couple of days later we were up in the Convoy area.  We needed to grab lunch, so a quick search brought us here to Mekong Cuisine Lao and Thai.

Apparently, it used to be another Thai restaurant but was taken over a year ago by the current family.…

Gringo Bandito Hot Sauce

Gringo Bandito Hot Sauce

Who loves hot sauce!? We were contacted by Gringo Bandito to test out their hot sauce lineup. I have been known to add hot sauce to many a meal so it was great to have a chance to try something new.

There are three main varieties they currently sell, red, green, and super hot. You may or may not recognize the blond gentleman on the front of the bottle. It’s Dexter Holland, the lead singer of the band The Offspring. I love The Offspring, especially in high school. It is awesome he created his own hot sauce. …

Square Bar Cafe – Kearny Mesa

Square Bar Cafe – Kearny Mesa

Opened in July of 2016, Square Bar Cafe keeps on adding new things to their menu. They have all sorts of drinks, desserts, and even food. Some of them include the pizza bagel, rainbow bagel, and double cups which basically is two drinks in one cup. I know, crazy stuff. But all welcomed in my book. This visit took place before they served any of these creations. So here I am dusting off this post.

When I first walked in and saw the menu I kind of got confused. There’s not much on it, yet my eyes wandered around trying to figure out what to focus on.…

Recently Darren and I had the opportunity to check out Grater Grilled Cheese in  La Jolla.
