So I’ve been watching a lot of Man Vs. Food lately and Adam seemed to hit a lot of deli’s on his various food journeys across the country. So my stomach had a longing for deli meat. I hadn’t been to DZ Akins in quite some time so my light bulb went off and we were on our way to satisfy the need of the day in sunny San Diego.

I first encountered The Hat 15 years ago. My Dad wanted to grab a quick bite, and said he knew of a little sandwich shop that had the best pastrami. Sure, why not? I was expecting a basic pastrami that was dry, salted, and coupled with some rye bread. Boy, was I wrong! Wrapped carefully in yellow paper was a pastrami sandwich from Heaven.
