Happy Friday!! We recently were invited to visit Isabel’s Cantina. It has been four years since our first visit and I’m not quite sure why it has taken so long to visit them again. Maybe I compartmentalized that into a whole other part of my brain, away from the “normal” places to go. The outside of the restaurant sticks out like a sore thumb. It sits tucked away from the main stretch of Pacific Beach, sheltered by residential and other businesses. …Read more

The Patio on Goldfinch just recently opened its doors a few months ago (June ’14) and is the latest addition to Mission Hills’ impressive line up of eclectic eateries. They serve breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner, and have 12 taps onsite, plus an impressive bottle lineup.
When I first walked in, I was definitely impressed with the decor. The space is made bright with large skylights, a huge living wall of plants, and sunlight to spare. It’s also dog friendly.

Happy Belated 4th of July! Hope you all had a nice holiday. Michael and I ventured over to Bruxie near San Diego State University last week. This particular location (first in San Diego) opened last month, and already has gained a lot of steam. They have seven other locations, mostly in the Orange County area. If they can stay consistent with their concept they seem primed and ready to open more. What concept you ask? Waffle sandwiches. Yes they do have other items on the menu like coffee and frozen custard, but the main pull here is the waffle.…Read more
A second Richard Walker’s Pancake House has opened its doors in La Jolla recently. The first San Diego location resides in downtown. We tried the downtown location years back and I honestly don’t remember too much about it, other than it could have been part of Taste of Downtown. They also have two other locations in Illinois, where the family business originally started.
They boast a spacious interior or if you prefer to dine in the sunshine, you can do so outside in the patio.
The menu is a little daunting at first glance, but the bunnies help guide you along the path to deliciousness.…Read more
