San Diego County Farmers Markets

San Diego County Farmers Markets

There are several great San Diego Farmers Markets spread across the county, so when we saw this cool infographic rounding them out, we had to share!

I’ve been frequenting the Otay Ranch Farmers Market at the mall recently on Tuesdays.  We love getting the Pad-see-Ew from the Thai food vendor and lumpia from Gabina’s (5 for $2).

Which Farmer’s Market is your favorite?  Which vendors do you frequent?

Katsu Cafe – Kearney Mesa, San Diego

Katsu Cafe – Kearney Mesa, San Diego

Thank goodness is all I have to say.  It’s been awhile since I blasted a restaurant, but Teri Cafe was terrible in my opinion.  Granted I haven’t been there in years, but I distinctly remember their chicken was always dry and under season. So, I’m happy to report that Teri Cafe is no longer around and has been replaced with Katsu Cafe!

I’m not exactly sure when they opened since I don’t work in the area any longer, but I decided to check it out with Jorgina and the kids one day while we were furniture shopping.  …

Sambazon Acai Cafe (Encinitas)

Sambazon Acai Cafe (Encinitas)

One of our friends introduced us to the Sambazon acai drink a while back and we’ve been somewhat obsessed with it ever since. Costco, our usual supplier has it most of the time. But it hasn’t been available lately. What would I do without my new crush, the superberry acai. I remember hearing about an actual Sambazon store located in Encinitas. An unsuccessful Sambazon haul at Costco prompted us to make a trip to Encinitas to seek out our elusive drink. Surely we wouldn’t strike out there.   DSC_0627

Upon entering we noticed a bigger selection than we’ve seen at big chain stores.…

The Great Thai BBQ – National City

The Great Thai BBQ – National City

Finally some legit Thai food in the South Bay!  The Great Thai BBQ is National City’s latest Thai restaurant to open.  Ever since moving South to CV, we’ve been craving the great Thai menus we used to be near: Sab-e-lee (Linda Vista), J&T Thai Street Food (near USD), Amarin Thai (Hillcrest), or Taste of Thai (Del Mar).

So, check this out.  A HUGE Thai Iced Tea!  Better yet, it was really good in flavor and the perfect sweetness to half/half ratio.  I’d definitely order again and again.

Sharetea Grand Opening (Kearny Mesa)

Sharetea Grand Opening (Kearny Mesa)

When I first moved to San Diego in 2005 I would guess that Michael had consumed over double the amount of boba as I had up to that point in our lives. Now that I have been with Anh for over five years now, I think I easily have caught up with him and maybe even surpassed his sizable boba consumption count. If we decided to get boba at one place for the rest of our lives we probably could single-handedly keep them in business with the amount of boba we drink.…

Azucar Cuban Bakery – Custom Order Review

Azucar Cuban Bakery – Custom Order Review

Not only is Azucar great for an impromptu visit for coffee and a pastry, but they also have delicious lunch options like the Cubano sandwich, ground beef filled fried mashed potato balls, and a plethora of sweet treats!  You can check out my previous post here, but this review will cover our recent experience placing a special event order for my son’s 1st birthday and baptism celebration.

Woodranch BBQ & Grill (Mission Valley)

Woodranch BBQ & Grill (Mission Valley)

We got invited to the soft opening for the first Woodranch BBQ in San Diego. They have about sixteen locations, mostly in the Los Angeles area. The restaurant is located in Hazard Center in Mission Valley towards the back of the parking lot where Randy Jones All American Sports Grill used to be.

The restaurant itself is very dimly lit with the brightest section being the bar. They have an outdoor patio in the back of the restaurant as well.

Since this was the soft opening all food was complimentary. I remember going to a Woodranch BBQ up in Corona with my family a few years ago.…

Supernatural Sea to Sandwich (San Diego)

So we finally went to Supernatural Sandwiches back in January. We heard about it from friends, bloggers, and numerous media outlets. Heck, we even saw it at the Convoy Night Market! But at the time I didn’t connect the dots and realize what I was missing.

We would not be denied too much longer. The Nessie (Local Fish of the day, Silky Shinto Glaze, Buttery Toasted Bun, Tasty Shaman Tartar Sauce, Savory Jinx Relish, Fresh Local Greens) seemed like a good choice to start us out. They were serving halibut and it all came on two pieces of brioche bread.…
