Boudin SF – Clairemont

Boudin SF – Clairemont

IMG_2889

We were recently invited to Boudin to check out their new fresh seasonal salads.  Since I haven’t been eating as many greens as I’d like lately, this was the perfect opportunity turn things around.

IMG_2891

Boudin is a bakery and quick service restaurant that has roots in San Francisco, dating all the way back to 1849!  There are upwards of 30 locations today and a few that call San Diego County their home.  Today we were visiting the Clairemont location on the corner of Balboa Ave. and Genesee Ave.  This is the same mall that is home to 85 degrees.…

Bobboi Natural Gelato – La Jolla

Bobboi Natural Gelato – La Jolla

IMG_2337

We had the good fortune of being invited to visit Bobboi Natural Gelato in downtown La Jolla recently.  I’m so glad that we did!

IMG_2338

Bobboi has a fun atmosphere inside and the friendly staff greeted us immediately.

IMG_2340

You can see they actually carry many different flavors which all must be meticulously maintained at the proper temperature.

IMG_2341

Of course, we were curious what “bobboi” meant, and here it is!

IMG_2342

They tout absolutely nothing but fresh ingredients and display some of their organic produce here.  When not making gelato, the owners can be found scouring local farmer’s markets looking for fresh new ideas.…

DoorDash

DoorDash

Have you heard of DoorDash before? You might not have as they are relatively new to San Diego. They have an app you can download (you can use a web browser too) which allows you to order food or drinks from the comfort of your home. The restaurant prepares your order, and a delivery person or “dasher” comes to pick it up and deliver it to your house. There is a delivery fee of $3.99 for DoorDash Select restaurants or alternatively it costs $6.99 for other restaurants that are not DoorDash Select.…

Kung Fu Tea – San Diego (Kearny Mesa)

IMG_1058

So Darren and I first noticed Kung Fu Tea a couple weeks ago while we were eating dessert at Blush (same shopping center).  It was clearly under construction and didn’t look that far along.  Darren mentioned he’d seen them in Las Vegas before, but didn’t have the opportunity to try them.

Anyhow, I was driving up to LA this past weekend and was headed over to MiTea.  Before I got there, I noticed an open sign and the Kung Fu Tea sign nice and bright.  So, I decided to check it out quickly.…

Ceviche House – North Park

Ceviche House – North Park

Oh ceviche. Have I told you lately, that I love you? Have I told you, there’s no one else, above you? Fill my heart with gladness, take away all my sadness. Ease my troubles, that’s what you do. Sorry, I sometimes have conversations with my food that lasts well after a meal concludes. Ceviche House opened a location in North Park in December and had previously set up shop at local farmer’s markets throughout San Diego. Unassuming from the outside, it’s what’s inside that counts.

What a bright and welcoming vibe once you step in, kind of like ceviche!…

Tigris Mediterranean Grille – Kearny Mesa, San Diego

Tigris Mediterranean Grille – Kearny Mesa, San Diego

IMG_8161

So Jorgina and I stumbled onto Tigris Mediterranean Grille the other week after a quick trip to her dentist in Kearny Mesa.  It’s just West of the 15 Fwy off of Clairemont Mesa Dr. and Overland Ave.  The parking lot in the shopping center was a bit dense, but luckily we found one before the lunch rush.

IMG_8160

Inside we were happy to find a quick service Mediterranean grill where you can watch the action of them preparing your food.

IMG_8159

At the end of the line, you will find a couple cashiers to take your order and their full menu just overhead.…

The Original Sab-E-Lee (Linda Vista)

IMG_7507

Happy New Year! I haven’t made any New Year’s resolutions this year that I would probably eventually give up on, so instead I’ll make a wish. I wish to eat just as many or more amazing things this year as I did last. I also want to find things I haven’t gotten a chance to discover or try yet. Here’s to a great 2016 all!

There was a time Michael and I went to The Original Sab-E-Lee at the original location across the street almost every week.  Okay, maybe it seemed like every week but we went a lot.…

The Halal Guys – Costa Mesa

So, I got pretty excited when I heard The Halal Guys was opening up shop in SoCal!  Our friend Kirbie tipped us off here.

IMG_4676

Anyhow, The Halal Guys is a special memory for my wife and I because it was the very first place we ever ate in NYC in 2003.

We had just flown over, but coming from the West Coast, it was really late and almost midnight by the time we arrived at our hotel.  Luckily for us, we looked down and quickly noticed a snaking queue to a food cart.  …
