Katsu Cafe – Kearney Mesa, San Diego

Katsu Cafe – Kearney Mesa, San Diego

Thank goodness is all I have to say.  It’s been awhile since I blasted a restaurant, but Teri Cafe was terrible in my opinion.  Granted I haven’t been there in years, but I distinctly remember their chicken was always dry and under season. So, I’m happy to report that Teri Cafe is no longer around and has been replaced with Katsu Cafe!

I’m not exactly sure when they opened since I don’t work in the area any longer, but I decided to check it out with Jorgina and the kids one day while we were furniture shopping.  …

Sharetea Grand Opening (Kearny Mesa)

When I first moved to San Diego in 2005 I would guess that Michael had consumed over double the amount of boba as I had up to that point in our lives. Now that I have been with Anh for over five years now, I think I easily have caught up with him and maybe even surpassed his sizable boba consumption count. If we decided to get boba at one place for the rest of our lives we probably could single-handedly keep them in business with the amount of boba we drink.…

Kula Revolving Sushi Bar (San Diego)

Kula Revolving Sushi Bar (San Diego)

Kula Revolving Sushi Bar has made its way down to San Diego and we visited them a few weeks ago on a random Tuesday afternoon at 1:30pm thinking we wouldn’t have to wait. Wrong answer, try again. Okay thirty minutes isn’t that bad, especially since we were in for a sensory overload experience. It looks like Kula has over 300 locations mostly in Japan with seven of them in and around the Los Angeles area. They specialize in a conveyor belt that loops throughout the dining area(right next to each table) and into the kitchen.…

Yakitori Taisho (San Diego)

Anh and I were trying to find a place to eat over the weekend and saw that Yakitori Taisho just opened a few weeks back. It is a part of the family of restaurants including Yakitori Yakyudori and Hinotez. We weren’t too confident they would be open for lunch on a Sunday, but gave it a shot anyways. Our suspicions were right and they were closed. Boooo. Never to get too down about being denied food, we dusted ourselves off and made it out for dinner a few nights ago. Right before we left I googled them to see if I could find their hours and noticed mmm-yoso paid them a visit recently.…

San Diego Night Market

San Diego Night Market

Last Saturday we got a chance to attend the second annual San Diego Night Market off of Convoy and Engineer Road. About a year ago they held their first event in the Zion Market parking lot next to MIT Express off of Clairemont Mesa Blvd. It was a very tight space, with little parking so we were interested to see how this years event would pan out given the new location.

We were able to park really close by because we came when the market opened at 4:00pm. Last year we made the mistake of coming right in the middle around 6:30pm and it took us a good twenty minutes to find parking.…

Yes that’s right. Jack in the Box is getting in on the cronut craze. While they are a little behind the trend, we aren’t ones to pass up an opportunity to try these typically tasty treats. A few weeks ago we picked some up. Much like the Vons version, we weren’t expecting much. That’s the best approach going into these. Don’t get your hopes up, and then be pleasantly surprised.  DSC_0004 DSC_0010 And pleasantly surprised we were. The Jack in the Box version of the croissant donuts are miniature and topped with cinnamon and sugar.…

Matcha Love opened a little over a week ago in the Mitsuwa Market off of Balboa Ave. and the 163. The pictures looked great from what people were posting, and what better way to fight off this 90+ degree weather than a nice refreshing scoop of ice cream, or three…

Ito En is Japan’s largest green tea distributor. If you have had Costco’s Kirkland brand green tea, then you have already tried Ito En tea as they source their green tea from them.

Sorry for the reflection on the menu! We were already full from boba from Yes!Pingo so we were only able to fit a Triple Ice Waffle Bowl in our tummies.…
