I’ve been frequenting the Otay Ranch Farmers Market at the mall recently on Tuesdays.  We love getting the Pad-see-Ew from the Thai food vendor and lumpia from Gabina’s (5 for $2).

Which Farmer’s Market is your favorite?  Which vendors do you frequent?

Bite San Diego Downtown/Little Italy City Tour

Bite San Diego Downtown/Little Italy City Tour

Fun fact: my brother goes on more food tours than we do. He’s turning into quite the food tour expert. If I were to venture a guess, I’d say he’s gone on as many food tours as my oldest brother has gone on cruises. Everyone has their thing, don’t they? He and his girlfriend got us tickets to attend one with them in our very own backyard. Michael and I went on a Bite food tour a few years ago, but that one was in La Jolla. This one covered downtown and Little Italy.…

Cookbook Tavola Calda (Little Italy)

Cookbook Tavola Calda (Little Italy)

DSC_0014

There’s a lot of activity in Little Italy with seemingly new restaurants popping up all over. Cookbook Tavola Calda in Little Italy has been open since May, and Chef Gregorio Sarafini Pozzi along with his business partner, Filippo Macchiarelli could be filling a niche with staying power. As Chef Gregorio explained to us, the tavola calda in Italy is a gathering place or hang out where people can relax and share food and drink. It can be fast and casual, but also features house made food that you might find at a sit down restaurant.…

Puerto La Boca (Little Italy)

Anh and I visited an Argentinian Steakhouse a little while back in Little Italy.  We didn’t know there was such a place in that location but off we were.  We do tend to get random deals to restaurants that we’ve never been to before and hope to find good food around the bend.

The menu had some nice pictures and wasn’t super complex so after perusing it we ordered some grub!

We got there kind of early so we were the only patrons enjoying the Puerto La Boca ambiance.  We liked the open kitchen and a cozy private room in the back.   …
