Werewolf – Gaslamp, Downtown San Diego

Werewolf – Gaslamp, Downtown San Diego

Werewolf

What a cool name.  Werewolf!

P1240006

Werewolf is right in the heart of the Gaslamp district of downtown San Diego.  Inside is a quaint and energetic bar & grill that is sure to appeal to many.

Service this evening was awesome and we were tended to by no less than 4 people… all who had different food recommendations.  😉

But, it was primarily Jason and Nick who helped us out this evening.

At least there was consensus amongst everyone to order the wings.  These bad boys are prep’d with lots of love.  …

SNOICE in Paradise Hills, San Diego

SNOICE in Paradise Hills, San Diego

PB140260

Just prior to Thanksgiving, we made a quick trip up to Paradise Hills to check out SNOICE.

*If you look a little closer, you’ll notice my daughter just outside the front door super eager to go inside!  Somehow she knew she’d be in a for a special treat.

SNOICE specializes in snow and ice desserts traditionally found in Taiwan and the Philipines.

They have a pretty cool story.  The founders, Jayrell and Dianne, started it up as a side project of the side of Dianne’s parents’ bakery.

What started out as a pop-up dessert bar has since evolved into a full fledged storefront and viable business.  …

Musical Pairing in San Diego: Part Deux

Musical Pairing in San Diego: Part Deux

We heard that our friends Barbara and Victoria would be back in San Diego for another special Musical Pairing pop-up dinner, and we were dying to participate again.

Of course, they invited us with open arms and we knew we were back in for a treat at Ruth’s Chris Del Mar.

This time, however, would be different.  We already had a preview of what to expect last time, so the question became “would it taste different” and “how could I customize this to my own musical tastes”?

For this post, I’m not going to dig into the finite details since Darren did an excellent job with this first write up, rather I’d like to explore other options applying what I learned.  …

The Grass Skirt Tiki Lounge

PB050049

As you may know, Darren and I are cousins.  What you may not know is that our parents were born in Hawaii.  So, we’ve got a natural affinity towards island style cuisine and themes.

Tonight we were excited to be checking out the soft opening for The Grass Skirt in Pacific Beach.  This Tiki Lounge concept is from SDCM, the same group that brought us Kettner Exchange a couple years ago.  One thing that we realized is that they love to make a great first impression!…

Homestyle Hawaiian Pub & Eatery – Tierrasanta

Homestyle Hawaiian Pub & Eatery – Tierrasanta

My post of Cucina Urbana was not all rainbows and butterflies. That’s just not real life now is it. Another long time favorite of mine is Homestyle Hawaiian. It’s a steady source of comfort and I love to frequent the location near Mesa College. When I noticed Homestyle Hawaiian Pub & Eatery in Tierrasanta opened earlier this year I had to go check it out. Actually, we used to hit up the owner’s (Mo) other restaurant called Da Kitchen/Mo’s Island Grinds way back in the day until he closed it. What a sad day that was when we found out we couldn’t get his Korean chicken or kalua pig anymore.…

Herb & Wood – Little Italy, San Diego

Herb & Wood

Jorgina and I recently celebrated our 11th Wedding Anniversary with a fun staycation in San Diego.  On our second evening, I made reservations at Brian Malarkey’s newest restaurant, Herb & Wood.

Nestled in San Diego’s Little Italy, Herb & Wood is the perfect new addition to an already vibrant resurgence of hip and cool flavors.

Just a few doors down from Juniper & Ivy, Herb & Wood set up shop in a cool industrial building which was formerly a furniture store.

The space is quite large and they’ve decided to create more than just a restaurant.  …

DoorDash Alcohol Delivery

DoorDash Alcohol Delivery

DoorDash is a delivery service that has expanded to San Diego over the last year. You can read about our first experience here. If you don’t want to go back and read it the truncated version is we liked their food delivery service because it was on time and easy to use. The food was still warm and is comparable to when you pick up food yourself and bring it home right away. Since the time we reviewed their food delivery service they have expanded into delivering alcohol in Southern California and they offered for us to try it out.…
