Tis the season and we haven’t posted in a looooong time. But we’re back with another fun filled installment of San Diego Food dot neat! I ventured into San Francisco about a month ago with Anh and we decided we would make the trip worth our while. Once our brunch destination was set up with some friends at Mission Beach Cafe, our next task was to see how many places were within walking distance we could tackle. Since we were walking it all off, the act of stuffing our selves silly did not phase us (in the psychological sense).…Read more
We were supposed to visit iDessert a while back but”due to electrical issues,” our original plans got delayed. Thanks to Mary from This Tasty Life via Instagram, we didn’t waste a drive over to find out they were closed for the day. However, we were able to go a few weekends ago on a particularly warm evening. If you have been to Las Vegas you probably recognize the name Jean-Philippe. I’ve stood in front of his chocolate fountain more times than I can count at the Bellagio. And I’ve never seen so much chocolate move around so close to my mouth without any of it going inside.…Read more
A few weeks ago we were invited to a blogger dinner at Seasons 52 at the Headquarters in downtown. Ever since we attended a media dinner for the first Seasons 52 in San Diego at UTC, we’ve been paying them visits every once in a while. It’s safe to say we enjoy the food and keep coming back for more! Executive Chef Partner Steve de Barril was on hand once again to talk about the menu and walk us through some of the new things they are preparing.
The downtown location is nice and spacious with an open kitchen to catch some of the action.…Read more
I was quite happy to hear through the wire that two Lemonade locations were opening in San Diego in 2015. I’ve been a big fan of their restaurants for awhile now, but until now I’ve only been able to frequent them during L.A. trips to visit family. The locations recently opened are in Hillcrest and University Towne Center (UTC). Lemonade is a quick service modern marketplace restaurant that brings seasonal California comfort food in a whimsical open-space cafeteria setting.
This location in the UTC mall is located across the food court on the south eastern side near the valet parking & Sport Chalet.…Read more
It’s funny because my first D Bar experience wasn’t actually in San Diego. A year after they opened in San Diego in 2012 I was on a trip with Anh to Colorado. I received a lot of advice on Chowhound and one of the places we stopped by was the original D Bar in Denver. They have since relocated to a bigger space in Denver. I didn’t realize the D Bar in San Diego was under the same ownership as the D Bar in Denver until after we got back from our trip.…Read more
After my friends and I attended the D6 Night Market a few months ago, I guess we weren’t done eating yet. My strategic stomach space planning didn’t factor in an extra food stop. Here I thought I was the crazed foodie. My fellow food loving peoples wanted to stop by T-Pop Desserts & More for, well…more. They were taking me somewhere I had never been before but had heard a lot about. The pictures looked great from what I saw in other reviews, so in the very least it would make for a good presentation.…Read more
We had the pleasure of sitting down with Karen of Sugar Rush San Diego to talk about how her passion for homemade treats has become a growing business and of course, to sample some of her baked goods. We are giving away two dozen of Karen’s cookies to one lucky winner! She started Sugar Rush San Diego about a year ago and has been mostly making cookies; however, she does have other offerings like lemon bars and brownies as well. She learned how to cook and bake from her mother at a young age and one of her main goals is to share what homemade cookies actually taste like.…Read more
Tis the season to be jolly, fa la la la la, la la la la! My parents like to listen to Christmas music so these songs are set to repeat in my head at the moment. Can you believe 2014 is almost over? How did that happen? Hope you had a great year and a memorable holiday! We were sent an invitation to try out one of the Baskin Robbins holiday cakes. I must say this came in quite handy as I wasn’t sure if I would have time to make anything for my family Christmas party this year.…
