Happy Friday!! We recently were invited to visit Isabel’s Cantina. It has been four years since our first visit and I’m not quite sure why it has taken so long to visit them again. Last time I was blindfolded and led into the restaurant, only to find a table filled with friends and family there to celebrate my birthday. Surprise! Maybe I compartmentalized that into a whole other part of my brain, away from the “normal” places to go. The outside of the restaurant sticks out like a sore thumb. It sits tucked away from the main stretch of Pacific Beach, sheltered by residential and other businesses. …Read more
A second Richard Walker’s Pancake House has opened its doors in La Jolla recently. The first San Diego location resides in downtown. We tried the downtown location years back and I honestly don’t remember too much about it, other than it could have been part of Taste of Downtown. They also have two other locations in Illinois, where the family business originally started.
They boast a spacious interior or if you prefer to dine in the sunshine, you can do so outside in the patio.
The menu is a little daunting at first glance, but the bunnies help guide you along the path to deliciousness.…Read more
I had never heard of this place until my gf told me about it and suggested we go. To both of our delights it was good! She got the stuffed French toast with strawberries (inside) and bananas (on top) and I got the shrimp and crab salad. The French toast was pretty good. I’d say this was an above average French toast because it came with two fruits and there wasn’t anything bad about it.…Read more
Although the promised wait of 45 mins turned into an hour, I would still venture back more french toast. The cinnamon bread they made it with was delicious! There was a nice blueberry preserve to accompany it. The chicken sausage was also decent. The Mission has a few locations apparently. We ate at the North Park location. The Mission
