Nicole’s Naturals Gluten Free Waffle & Pancake Product Review

Nicole’s Naturals Gluten Free Waffle & Pancake Product Review

We were sent a sample of Nicole’s Naturals Gluten Free Waffle & Pancake Mix a few weeks ago. I just got around to messing around with it last week. Since I don’t own a waffle maker I had to rely on my pancake pouring skills to make for a decent photo. Not only is the mix gluten free, but it is wheat, dairy, and soy free as well. Each serving is 150 calories with only one gram of sugar.

All you need is butter, eggs, and milk or water, and before you know it, you will have your mix ready to go.…

Family House of Pancakes

Family House of Pancakes

A year later and I’m still exploring all the little nooks in the South Bay.  One place that we’ve gone to a couple times is Family House of Pancakes.  It’s a solid, old school, pancake house with no frills.  But, their food is served piping hot and delicious!

On our most recent trip with our family, I decided to try their coconut waffle (they have a Belgium option too).  It was a decent size and plenty of coconut and powered sugar to satisfy my morning sweet tooth.  Like most breakfast places, the waffles and pancakes are served with whipped butter.  …

Happy Friday!! We recently were invited to visit Isabel’s Cantina. It has been four years since our first visit and I’m not quite sure why it has taken so long to visit them again. Last time I was blindfolded and led into the restaurant, only to find a table filled with friends and family there to celebrate my birthday. Surprise! Maybe I compartmentalized that into a whole other part of my brain, away from the “normal” places to go. The outside of the restaurant sticks out like a sore thumb. It sits tucked away from the main stretch of Pacific Beach, sheltered by residential and other businesses. …

A second Richard Walker’s Pancake House has opened its doors in La Jolla recently. The first San Diego location resides in downtown. We tried the downtown location years back and I honestly don’t remember too much about it, other than it could have been part of Taste of Downtown. They also have two other locations in Illinois, where the family business originally started.

They boast a spacious interior or if you prefer to dine in the sunshine, you can do so outside in the patio.

The Trails – San Diego’s Restaurant Impossible?

The Trails – San Diego’s Restaurant Impossible?

So, this time Food Network’s show, Restaurant: Impossible, motivated us to try out a new restaurant called the Trails, a neighborhood eatery, located in the San Carlos area of San Diego.  In this series, the brawny, ex-British Navy chef, Robert Irvine takes on the challenge of renovating an unsuccessful restaurant in 2 days with a budget of $10,000.  We were curious to see if media-hype could benefit a struggling restaurant, and we were excited to try out their cinnamon roll pancakes.

Once we pulled into the strip mall parking lot where the restaurant was located, our question was answered with a resounding YES! …
