The Cottage

I had never heard of this place until my gf told me about it and suggested we go. To both of our delights it was good! She got the stuffed French toast with strawberries (inside) and bananas (on top) and I got the shrimp and crab salad. The French toast was pretty good. The fruit added a nice flavor to the French toast and it didn’t seem too overboard. There were some orange bits in there that may have been zest, and that probably didn’t have to be in there. I’d say this was an above average French toast because it came with two fruits and there wasn’t anything bad about it.

The shrimp and crab salad was also tasty. It came with avocado and hearts of palm, which are slam dunks in my book. The crab tasted a little off to me but the shrimp were cooked perfectly and tasted fantastic. The lemon basil dressing also was very light and didn’t overtake the taste of the salad itself and complemented everything nicely. I would certainly go back here again to try some of their other yummy dishes!

About Darren

Fooood! I love it if you can't tell already. I love everything about it. The taste, the smell, the look, the feel, the satisfaction, the gratification, and ultimately: the fun! I've been in San Diego for about 10 years now and it amazes me that there are still places to uncover. Traveling, eating, and taking pictures of food has always been a hobby of mine. So naturally Michael and I thought it made sense to share what we found with all of you. I tend to side with the savory but never shy away from a knock out dessert. If you have a place you think we haven't tried let us know! We're always on the lookout...
