This place has always been there but for some reason I avoided it like the plague. Well today was the day I decided I was going to stare plague right in the face and risk bad sushi.
The interior was very spacious and it wasn’t very crowded during the normal busy lunch hour to my delight. The waitress was courteous and came to our table throughout the meal to check on us. I was craving sushi so I thought the sushi special would be a good start. For $7.95 you get a spicy tuna roll, miso soup, and three pieces of sushi (chef’s choice). The miso soup was pretty standard and didn’t wow me. But not too many miso soups have blown my socks off. It tasted fine, it just wasn’t the main attraction.
What was the main attraction was the sushi. I typically frequented Toro Sushi down the street but their prices have risen and the consistency wasn’t always there so that’s what prompted this visit here. The rice on a few pieces was a little hard but luckily most of them didn’t have this problem. Other than that, I had no issues with the sushi. For less than 8 bucks I was pretty impressed. The sushi came out quickly, we ate, enjoyed the music playing (I think 96.5) and felt relaxed in the large restaurant space. I’d say the tuna was the best, but I am always partial to tuna. It was soft and moist, had good flavor, and the chef put a little wasabi under the fish.
All in all, it was a good thing we went here today. I’ll definitely come back to try other items and perhaps try some of the other sushi items for dinner.
