TJ Oyster Bar (Re-visit) – San Diego

So my sister and brother-in-law came to visit us over the Memorial Day weekend.  First stop was TJ Oyster Bar.  They loved it!

Anyhow, this will be a shorter post than usual, but I finally had a regular camera rather than my phone cam.  So, hopefully these pics will be a bit better.

Here are their famous 99 cents fish tacos.

The batter is seasoned perfectly.  However, you have to eat it here.  If you take it to go, it immediately gets soggy and the magic is lost.

Again the combination of the fish, cabbage, tomatoes, and cream sauce make this one of my favorite things to eat in ALL of San Diego.

I’m afraid to report however that their Marlin taco is gone from the menu!  I’m not sure if the economy forced this decision (which I wouldn’t blame them), but they do at least have an alternative… a smoked tuna taco.  This is also pretty good, but not quite the same I’m afraid.

Luckily the fish broth is still delish as always.

I think there are bits of crab, fish, and even some scallops.  (Although, come to think of it, you can get the broth by itself or with the seafood).

Anyhow, as long as they don’t change the fish taco, I’m a happy camper!!!
