The Green Go Grilled Cheese Gastro Truck has been coming every week outside work for a while now and we never ventured in that direction until now. But lucky us, Michael and I couldn’t think of what to get one day and low and behold they were awaiting our arrival.
As hard as it is sometimes to order, the name of the truck made it easier to decide what we’d taste on this day. So at their recommendation they cooked us up a couple different grilled cheese sandwiches Michael and I shared.
We started off with one of their specials: the Bleu Buffalo. It had buffalo bbq tequila chicken tenders, bleu fromage, and onion frittes coupled with their basic 5 grilled cheese ingredients. That’s a lot of things going on in one sandwich! Basically it tasted what it sounds like it would taste. Hot wing meat inside a grilled cheese sandwich. The chicken was plump and the 5 cheese blend mixed with the blue cheese was ooey goey yumness. The first 5 bites tasted better than the last 5 since it did get a little soggy by the end. But man that first bite was delicious. The bbq may have been a little too strong for my taste and if that was toned down just a tiny bit it would have been that much more complete.
The other we had to try was the Carnivore Grilled Cheese. It contained the 5 cheeses and their certified grass fed beef patty on sourdough. As if it needed more flavor they added chipotle mayo to it. Grilled cheese sandwiches are not on the regular rotation so maybe it was due time, but this was as good of a grilled cheese as I can remember in recent times. I’m going to have to make sure and go again, but I was pretty impressed. Honestly going into it with little or no expectations helped some too. Aside from the nutritional concerns, the price is the other aspect that doesn’t scream repeat customer. At about $10 a sandwich there’s plenty of other options that offer just as much if not more value for the same price. Nevertheless, if I’m in that mood and I see this bad boy hanging out on the street I may be lining up to give it another go.
