Starkeys BBQ in Pacific Beach

Starkeys BBQ is located right in the heart of Pacific Beach (across from Belmont Park).  Thanks to Ryan and Becca for inviting us out to try what they had to offer.

While we came out for lunch this day, we found out that Starkeys is well known for their breakfast items too.  Above is a sampling of their breakfast menu which we’d like to try one day as well.

Inside Starkeys is nice and relaxed.  It matches the laid back Pacific Beach feel.  They had a nice salt water tank with a clown fish (Nemo!) that my daughter enjoyed, as well as colorful paintings of sea life that covered the walls.

For lunch, Starkeys offers a varied menu of ribs, sandwiches, salads, and wings.  Since we couldn’t make up our minds, Ryan and Becca decided to give us a fun sampling!

First up… the tender “fall off the bone” ribs were solid.  These come in full and half orders.

This was followed up by their specialty sandwich, the Super Pig!  This is Ryan’s favorite sandwich.  It is pulled pork with jalapenos, bacon, and pepper-jack cheese.

I wish we caught a better picture of this one, but here’s a sampler of their wings.  These were awesome!  I personally enjoyed the Spicy Ranch wings, which is dry rubbed and topped with Sriracha sauce and jalapenos.  Also pictured are the Daytona wings (a combination of Buffalo and Honey Mustard sauce) and the Mystic wings (bathed in Teriyaki sauce and topped with pineapple).  I know Darren enjoyed these as well.

Here are some sides to go along with our meal.   We were so stuffed it was hard to finish everything, but we tried!   Not pictured was a kid’s mac a cheese topped with goldfish crumbs for my daughter.  She gobbled it up quickly so I couldn’t get a picture!  Oh well.

Overall we enjoyed our first visit to Starkeys.  If you’re in the area, check ’em out for a solid breakfast or lunch.  They also have ongoing specials found here.
