Kettner Exchange – Little Italy, San Diego

If you haven’t heard about Kettner Exchange yet, you will soon.  Brought to you by seasoned restauranteur Matt Spencer (of Analog, Vin De Syrah, and Firehouse), Kettner Exchange is an exciting and delicious destination to experience, and be seen.  Executive Chef Brian Redzikowski is serving up exceptional Progressive American Cuisine.  Bar Manager Steven Tuttle oversees classic, but friendly drinks to satisfy the most discerning patron.  Darren and I were fortunate to attend their grand opening party back in mid-October.  Here’s what we saw.

The 8000 sqft property boasts a stunning nautical theme and pays homage to the late William Kettner.  Just adjacent to the restaurant is a small building which will eventually serve fresh coffee and donuts.

Don’t forget to checkout the looking glass on the second floor!

Chef’s table adjacent to the open kitchen.  We’ll be coming back for this soon.

You’ll find plenty of bars throughout the property, both downstairs and upstairs.

Incredible open air patio. 20141118_164255

Ravioli taster!  Perfectly al dente.

Fried oyster shooter.  I’m a fan!

Spicy tuna taco.  Small, but savory.

Fantastic double decker slider (Niman Ranch Beef with Aged Cheddar) paired perfectly with fresh fries.  This was our favorite of the night.  There are so many great burger choices in San Diego already, but this one has definitely made it harder to choose now!

Fresh glazed donuts filled with custard.

A quick pic with a blast from the past, Mr. Kettner himself & Co.! Overall we had a great preview of KEX.  They are currently only serving dinner, but plan to open for brunch in the near future as well.  I’d certainly recommend you trying them out, but don’t forget to make reservations.  They’re already an SD hot spot.
