McDonald’s is back at it again with new breakfast items! I hadn’t been inside a McDonald’s in a while and the decor looked updated and fresh, perhaps trying to match their new breakfast bowls.
They also are now featuring Chobani yogurt in their smoothies and fruit and yogurt parfait’s.
There was even a display basket at the front showing some of the ingredients that go into the bowls. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
These new bowls are being rolled out slowly and Southern California locations are among the first to have them. Here are the Egg White & Turkey Sausage and Scrambled Egg and Chorizo Breakfast Bowls. As you might have guessed, one appears to cater towards the more health conscious.

Each bowl costs $4.39 which is almost double the cost of a Sausage McMuffin but with almost half the calories (400). I don’t know if I could fill up on just one of these bowls but if I had a parfait to supplement it, I would be set. The sausage flavor is actually really similar to the Sausage McMuffin and I forgot it was made of turkey until after a few bites in.
All in all, the healthier bowl was pleasant and a nice alternative to the otherwise heavier breakfast items I typically get.

The Scrambled Egg & Chorizo Bowl is 460 calories. I could certainly get full off of one bowl of this since it does come with a hash brown. I would have liked it if there was a little more cheese but I suppose the calories would start to pile up. The chorizo wasn’t actually very strong and the tomatoes evened out an otherwise, heavier dish. As expected, the spicy roasted salsa roja wasn’t all too spicy to cater to most people’s spice tolerance.
The McCafé Strawberry Banana Smoothie was refreshing. I needed something a little sweet to balance out all the savory things I tried.
I also enjoyed the Fruit’N Yogurt Parfait. The strawberries and blueberries coupled with the crunchy granola made me wonder why I don’t include it in my McDonald’s road trip stops.
Of course no McDonald’s visit would be complete without a sausage McMuffin and Hash brown, especially now that they serve them all day!
The bowls are served during breakfast hours and are a welcome addition in my book. I probably favor the Egg White & Turkey Sausage Bowl because the meat seems a little more noticeable, and as an added bonus it comes at a lower calorie count. I hope you get to try them and please enter our contest below to win a $10 gift card!
