Farewell San Diego!

Yes, it’s true. I have left the place I called home for 12 years. To this day it’s the best place I’ve ever lived. I will truly miss it along with my close friends and family. I apologize for not posting something sooner, but with anything, I procrastinated and put it off. You can find me in the bay area unless I can one day convince Anh to move back to sunny SD! ;P I haven’t decided if I will start up writing again once I get settled here, but there are tons and tons of places to try now!

What to say? I, of course, will miss the food scene in San Diego. For me, it’s the perfect size which helps it cultivate innovation and a constant influx of new restaurants. You can almost always make your way into a popular eatery without too much trouble. Yet, it is small enough where you run into the same people and really get a strong sense of community. I will deeply miss my TJ Oyster Bar, Tacos El Gordo, and Manila Sunset amongst so many others.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention all of the other food lovers and bloggers I got closer to and subsequently followed over the years. It’s a pretty close-knit community and your culinary conquests and successes are celebrated as my own. I hope you keep it going wherever you may be and I look forward to following your journey’s as I slowly lose touch with the pulse of SD.

To my ball friends, come visit me whenever you want! You guys made things fun and interesting. I’ll miss our leagues, Clipper losses, and late night eats. We still need to go on those trips…

Finally, I will dearly miss my family who will be holding it down in my absence. Lil L, Lil K, Michael, and Jorgina. Thanks so much for bringing me to SD, sharing your roof as you began your marriage, giving me a job, and letting me be a proud Uncle to the kiddos. I will never forget it and will cherish those moments forever. Enough of that sappy stuff though. As always…onto the pics!

Here are some of my highlights over the last 12 years. Until we meet again…

I hate goodbyes so a see you soon will have to suffice. Happy eating!

Yes, it’s already a bit strange without my partner in crime.  But, my cousin and brother in arms will always be a part of SDF.

I’ll do my best to keep you posted on my latest foodie updates, adventures, and rants.  And perhaps we’ll even get a glimpse on what fun eateries Darren finds up in the Bay area!

About Darren

Fooood! I love it if you can't tell already. I love everything about it. The taste, the smell, the look, the feel, the satisfaction, the gratification, and ultimately: the fun! I've been in San Diego for about 10 years now and it amazes me that there are still places to uncover. Traveling, eating, and taking pictures of food has always been a hobby of mine. So naturally Michael and I thought it made sense to share what we found with all of you. I tend to side with the savory but never shy away from a knock out dessert. If you have a place you think we haven't tried let us know! We're always on the lookout...

    1. Thanks Faye! Yes, there are many other options that would have been a lot worse for a food lover like me. 🙂 Hope you had some good eats in SF! I’m still exploring and getting to know the different areas. Glad there are lots of new choices.
