Lolita’s Eastlake is the 6th location of this fast-casual Mexican eatery. Since 1984, Lolita’s has served up fresh and authentic Mexican cuisine to San Diego and South Bay (Chula Vista & Bonita) areas.
We first tried Lolita’s several years ago because my wife works in the area. We have been semi-regulars ever since (and have been meaning to write up a review for quite some time!).
The Eastlake location has a fantastic layout of modern and vibrant colors. The open and high ceilings give it a comfortable feeling immediately upon entering.
They have a wide selection of drinks and even a couple of custom Coke machines.
Service is typically friendly and courteous. Note, you will wait a little while once you place your order as they believe in preparing your order fresh (fine by me!).
Here’s the salsa bar which includes fresh green onions, lime, and radish.
Both the red and green salsa are good and have an ample amount of heat.
Seating is well laid out and even includes a cool modern table with bar stools.
They are currently running a few specials for Lent! So, if you need to seek out fish on Fridays, Lolita’s is an excellent choice.
Here’s their regular menu.
We met up with one of the family members, Juan, that own Lolita’s. He told us his favorite menu item was the carne asada burrito.
So, we had to try it! We liked that it was simple and to the point. It includes carne asada, pico de gallo, and guacamole.
Their flour tortillas are EXCELLENT used for all of their burritos.
Note, it wasn’t the biggest burrito I’ve seen in SD, but it was definitely fresh and tasty.
Next, we ordered up our favorite… the Shrimp Burrito.
We’ve been ordering this for several years now. It’s so good because the shrimp are large & deveined, seasoned well, and full of flavor.
Both salsas go great with it as well.
Since Juan was hosting us, we decided to also try their Fish Burrito. It was also very fresh, but it lacked a little flavor in comparison to the shrimp burrito.
Here are all 3 burritos!
To top things off, Juan also ordered us carne asada chips!
It’s full of delicious carne asada, cheese, sour cream, and guacamole.
My son really pounded these!
Chips were a nice change over than the more popular Carne Asada Fries.
Final Thoughts
It was nice to try out some new menu items for a change. However, we both agreed that the Shrimp Burrito is still the best. I highly recommend you try it out!
If you love carne asada, get something with carne asada. You won’t be disappointed. 🙂
Want to know something else cool? Juan told us there is a Lolita’s Food Truck that’s almost ready to go! Sweet.
*Please note that we were invited to dine here and our meal was comp’d. No further compensation was received and our opinions remain our own.

Great looking carne asada fries! My kid would order that dish.
They are tasty. They have a location up in Kearny Mesa too.
