China Quik Wok is a tiny restaurant tucked away into a commercial shopping center close to the intersection of Balboa and Genesee. (Also the same mall as Nazca Grill.)
I decided to try this place out as I heard they had knife cut noodles.
I came here for dinner, but looks like they have a pretty cheap lunch special!
The modest inside was no frills, but I liked that you could see the cooks in the back preparing the food.
Seats were a bit hard.
So here they are. The House Special Chow Mein with knife cut noodles. A thumbs up for me on this dish, although it was a bit salty even more my liking. However, I enjoyed the knife cut noodles (*you need to ask for these noodles explicitly). I wouldn’t go so far as to say these are super authentic or anything, but they carried a decent texture and it was tasty dish overall.
We also ordered up some pot stickers which were rather disappointing. First of all they fried them with too much oil, and secondly, they came straight from a bag (I could see them pouring them out). I’ll pass on these next time.
Finally we ordered a soup. It was okay, but again too much salt. If they used 1/2 the sodium and I would have given it a thumbs up.
Anyhow, the saving grace was the knife cut noodles in my mind. I’d definitely order that again, but aside from that I’d be a bit wary.
